What Is Wegovy?

Wegovy is a prescription-only weight loss injection containing the active ingredient Semaglutide. It’s injected into the body once a week to help you lose weight. Wegovy has clinically proven to be an effective weight loss medication and can be used by adults with a body mass index (BMI) over 30 (or a BMI over 27 with at least one weight-related comorbidity such as high cholesterol, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnoea etc).

Who can use Wegovy for weight loss?

The weight loss injection Wegovy can be prescribed for those with a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or over. It can also be taken with a BMI of 27 if you also have any weight-related comorbidities (i.e. any obesity-related issues such as high cholesterol, hypertension, or type 2 diabetes).

Once you have completed the free consultation form, our UK-registered healthcare professional will review it and may contact you if they need clarification, ask additional questions or provide any advice. Once it is approved, a prescription will be issued and sent to our pharmacy for dispensing.

Semaglutide weight loss injection will not be suitable and will not be prescribed to you if you belong to one of the categories below:

• Under 18 or above 75 years of age
• You are pregnant or actively trying to get pregnant
• You are actively breastfeeding.
• You have liver or kidney problems
• You have cardiac problems or pancreatitis.
• You are a Type 1 diabetic or taking diabetic medication that causes hypoglycemia, such as insulin or sulphonylureas.
• Have or ever had eating disorders
• You are currently taking weight loss drugs or medication for diabetes that work in the same way as Wegovy injection, e.g., GLP-1’s such as Victoza, Ozempic, Saxenda, and Trulicity.

Where should I inject Wegovy?

Wegovy is a subcutaneous injection (injected into the skin). Subcutaneous injections can be injected into various parts of your body.

You can choose any area on your thighs, abdomen, or upper arms. You can choose a site that you are comfortable with. Change the injection site if you notice any injection marks.

What are the side effects of the Wegovy weight loss injection?

Just like any medication, you may experience some side effects, and your body will also need some time to adjust to Wegovy. You may experience the following side effects, which have been commonly reported in clinical trials:

• Nausea
• Headaches
• Diarrhoea
• Tummy ache or constipation
• Vomiting

However, these side effects tend to fade over time once your body adjusts to Wegovy.
